Reiki is a Japanese healing technique that uses life force energy to solve health issues and improve the lifestyle. It is used for relaxation and lowering stress. In recent times it has spread over the world due to its versatile use and easy access.

Energy therapy

ReikiIt is a kind of ‘energy therapy’ which includes using gentle hand techniques. Energy therapies work on the belief that our field of energy is constantly in tune with the energy fields of others and the environment. In reiki, the energetic interaction between the practitioner and patient is used to bring relief to the energy of the patient.

The gentle hand techniques used in reiki affect the energy field of the patient and are supposed to heal the mind, body, and spirit.

There is a reason to believe it is effective in many instances. This technique is supposed to promote healing by acting on the autonomic nervous system. It appears to relieve pain and anxiety in mental diseases like dementia. It is also useful in sleep disorders it is not uncommon to fall asleep during a reiki session.

How to implement Reiki in the dental office?

Reiki can be used easily in the dental chair by a reiki master. It is a great way to deal with anxious patients before their treatment. The dentist often prescribes an anti-anxiety drug for patients with dental fear. Reiki can help to eliminate/complement this need.

Some studies have shown that it helps with pain reduction in patients going through tooth extractions. Another study of child patients in Seattle Children’s Hospital revealed no effect of reiki therapy after dental treatment. Further studies are yet to be made.

Some holistic dental professionals believe reiki is an important addition to dental management. It is not a magic cure but a gentle hands-on practice that reduces stress. The practitioner uses their hands on the head, back, belly and feet along with breathing exercises. The aim is for the patient to experience a state of well being.

Applying it on yourself

Earlier it was a self-practice but now it has become a widely known hands-on energy therapy. Reiki is not intended only for healthcare professionals. Anyone can learn this art to use for their own and others’ benefit. It requires no previous training or experience. One can master the first level of reiki in a matter of two days.

Allopathy teaches us that a specific cure is the end of our health problems. On the other hand, reiki is a discipline that focuses on us connecting with ourselves and our surroundings on a deeper level. The good thing is that it works where it’s needed and can never harm you. Why say no to a chance of a happier and healthier lifestyle?
