They say you can tell a lot about a person from their smile. A beautiful smile makes a person look more attractive, intelligent and confident. Are you one of those people who are always hiding their not-so-perfect smile? Then I have some bad news for you. A poor smile makes a person look less attractive and untrustworthy.

Unsmiling people often come across as cold and rude. So think of a perfect smile as an investment that will make you appear more attractive and open more doors for you in your personal and professional life.

Flash a smile

Have you ever seen a celebrity with a bad smile? They always have these gorgeous pearly white smiles plastered on their face. But photogenic smiles are not just for them. You can get them too with these procedures.

Glam up with teeth whitening

Do you start your day with a big cup of chai? Whether it is coffee or green tea or even turmeric milk, everything stains your teeth and makes them dull and yellow.

Whitening will take care of that yellowish tint and make your teeth white and shine bright. Teeth whitening treatments are either performed by your dentist in the clinic, or your dentist might provide you with teeth whitening kits that can be used at the comfort of your home.

Do not try to use any of the recipes available online to DIY whitening your teeth with harsh chemicals like baking soda, lemon juice or even hydrogen peroxide.  These will do more damage than good for your teeth

Reshape those ‘bad eggs’

All of us have at least one tooth whose shape we do not like or it doesn’t match the rest of your teeth. Your dentist can reshape your tooth by gently filing it to make it smaller or add resins to make it look larger. Any small chipped or broken parts can be taken care of with no pain in half an hour. The cements match the exact shade of your teeth and look completely natural.

Cover those defects with Veneers

If your teeth have larger defects then your dentist may suggest veneers for you. These are custom made with porcelain or resins and cover any defects like permanent stains, big gaps or maligned teeth.  Small amount of tooth structure is grinded off on the sides and front to accommodate the veneers. They don’t just look good but also last long.

Crown those underdogs

Do you have teeth that have suffered extensive damage and needed root canal procedures? Such teeth need a crown or cap to cover and protect them. But fear not, gone are the days of unsightly silver or golden caps. Zirconia crowns which are more strong and long lasting are now available and more preferred by dentists . Zirconia crowns match the exact shade of your teeth and even provide a delicate translucency that reflects light just like your natural teeth.

Implant the lost teeth

Did you have to get your teeth extracted because you avoided dental treatments and now have empty spaces in between your teeth? Implants are small screws made up of medically safe materials like steel or titanium that are surgically placed into your bone and function just like normal natural teeth. Implants are the closest artificial thing to your natural teeth that give your oral cavity a new life.

Bridge the gap

If you are not comfortable undergoing a surgical procedure to replace missing teeth you can always go for a bridge. A bridge is nothing but a series of joint caps or crowns used to replace a missing tooth with the help of adjacent teeth. Zirconia bridges are preferred which not only just look good but also last long.

Brace yourself

Braces are not just for teenagers. Anyone with serious misalignment and good bone health can get braces. Gone are the days of ugly metal braces. Now white or even invisible braces are available. White colored braces are made of ceramic and are less visible than the conventional metal ones.  Some treatments may also require placing the braces on the inside of your teeth called lingual braces. Clear aligning systems are also available which are completely transparent and can be removed and kept while eating.

Botox to the rescue

Who doesn’t want those bee stung lips like Kylie Jenner or Angelina Jolie?  Botox can not only make your thinner lips big but can also restrict the exposure of your gums while smiling. This makes your smile more aesthetic and your lips more attractive.

Get that red

Have your lips and gums darkened due to smoking or other such habits. You can easily lighten them and make them look lighter and more attractive with laser treatments by a process called depigmentation. Depigmentation works by resurfacing the upper layers of your skin which exposes the inner layers and makes them look brighter.

Help yourself

Finally, don’t forget to brush your teeth to maintain your killer smile. Floss to prevent accumulation of food between teeth and avoid cavities. Visit your dentist regularly and get that confident smile.

Beauty is power and a smile is its sword.
